Located on the banks of river Sabarmati, Ahmedabad is probably the largest city of Gujarat. Once the capital city of Gujarat (before the capital was transferred to the Gandjhinagar), Ahmadabad offers ample opportunities and huge scope of development to the businessmen, industrialists, job seekers, and travellers. It is an important economic zone and reputable industrial hub in India. The city is the second-largest cotton producing city in India. There are many cotton mills producing cotton for meeting internal demand and exporting cotton products outside of India. Ahmedabad is the seventh-largest metropolitan area in India.
